  • Parish History

St. Ignatius Catholic Church was founded in 1976 and the first masses were held in the cafeteria of Antioch High School on Blue Hole Road and at Antioch United Methodist Church on Antioch Pike just south of Nashville.  These masses went on for four years until the church found it’s current home at 601 Bell Road in Antioch.

Fr. Charlie Giacosa was the first pastor to lead the community and to lead the effort to build the physical structure for the church.  In his first homily in the new building on Holy Thursday, Father Giacosa declared that “the Church is the people and we have all come together and moved forward since 1976.”

Fr. Giacosa’s leadership has been a blessing and continues to be remembered in the parish today.  Fr. Giacosa was followed by Fr. Ed Alberts who continued to grow the parish and provided excellent leadership.  Fr. Ed was followed by Fr. John Henrick who was followed by our current pastor Fr. Titus Augustine.

Fr. Titus has led the parish through major structural changes to our worship space, Paschal Hall and has overseen the growth of many of our programs. Fr. Titus has also led the parish through the difficult Covid 19 pandemic.  In spite of the pandemic, the parish continues to grow with the growth of the community surrounding it and the influx of the Catholic population from other parts of the country.
